Mass awareness programme for women on “Fresh Water”

A one day mass awareness programme for women on “Fresh Water” to create resource pool of women for conducting further mass awareness programs on water related issues as organized on 12th December 2003. Volunteers from All India Women’s conference attended the training programme. The programme was inaugurated by Director, CSMRS and was covered by Doordarshan. The trainees were provided with the training kit which includes the following materials.

  • A course materials covering “Fresh water- A Global and Indian Scenario” which covers the facts and figures about the availability of water in the world including India, its various uses and water conservation.

  • A pictorial booklet on “Water Conservation- To make water everybody’s concern” which covers various aspects of conserving the existing resources of water in day-to-day life. Pictures contained in this booklet shall be used by the volunteers for disseminating information further.

  • Quick facts

  • A pamphlet on  “Water and Religion”

  • A Hindi poem on ""

In addition, a water testing kit developed by CSMRS to assess few important parameters such as Color, Odour, pH, Total Hardness, Chloride, Fluoride and Iron for its portability has been distributed to volunteers. The volunteers use this test kit wiil during their mass drinking water limits prescribed in Bureau of India Standard.

The programme was divided in to three stations. In the forenoon, the trainees were given facts and figures about the availability of water in the world and India, its uses and methods of conserving it. Mrs. R. Chitra, Senior Research Officer delivered a lecture in this connection titled “Fresh Water- A Global and Indian Scenario”. Mr. S. C. Mathur, Assistant Research Officer delivered a lecture titled “Water Conservation- To make water everybody’s concern”.
